Best time to visit

In terms of the weather and an overall pleasant experience, the best time to visit Hamburg falls between the months from May to September. During these months, the temperature remains in the acceptable 20°C range, allowing for plenty of exploration. Given the great weather, these months also attract the most crowds and is the peak tourist season. If you don't like crowds and are looking for possibly cheaper accommodation, the fall season is perfect for you.

As for the best time to visit Elbphilharmonie, you can go either in the morning before the crowds come in, or after sunset, when you can see the city of Hamburg glimmer from the Plaza.

• After a months-long shutdown, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg Concert Hall is scheduled to open on January 10 2021 with all the pandemic related precautions implemented to ensure you have a safe experience.
• The Plaza is a definite highlight of the Elbphilharmonie and needs to be explored peacefully. If you’re watching a concert at the Elbphilharmonie, arrive at the venue at least two hours in advance so that you have plenty of time to witness the stunning panoramic views of Hamburg.
• If you're watching a concert at the Elbphilharmonie, your concert tickets also include a round trip to Elbphilharmonie. Use the tickets to hop onto public transportation travel to and from Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. Remember if you get just the Plaza tickets, public transportation is not included.
• Food and drinks aren’t allowed inside the concert hall. Head over to the bar available on each level of the hall before the performance or during the interval.
• The Plaza and Elbphilharmonie concert halls are not accessible via the garage. Take the B group elevator to the ground floor and go through the security check to access the Tube.
• If you have the time, take a tour of the Komponisten-Quartier. Located next to the Elbphilharmonie, the Composers Quarter on the Peterstraße is a series of composer museums that pay homage to Brahms, Bach, Mahler, and other legendary composers born in Hamburg.
